Chicago – The Best Big City in the United States for the 6th Time in a Row

On Tuesday, October 7th, Chicago was named the Best Big City in the United States for an unprecedented sixth straight year.

More than 240,000 people from around the country voted for our city in the Conde Nast Traveler’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards and we are happy to note no other city has won so many times in a row until now.

“A world-class destination”

Let’s be honest, there are so many reasons for anyone to love Chicago, but it is always good to see others appreciate it as much as we do.

“It’s no wonder Chicago is topping this list yet again. A world-class destination known for its impressive architecture, first-rate museums, brilliant chefs, and massive brewing scene, it’ll take several repeat visits to get through your list of must-dos,” Conde Nast Traveler editors declared.

Most Chicagoans, as well as people who have already visited our fair city would no doubt agree. Full of museums, cinemas, places with amazing views, and parks that make us fall in love with it each day – that’s our windy city Chicago! It has a lot to offer, and beside all the things it has, it also has many great spots where famous artists love performing live. The city has great food, to be enjoyed either on the street, in the parks or in one of its amazing restaurants, it has wonderful rooftop bars from where you can take the best pictures while you drink signature cocktails to remember. Chicago has endless things to do  in your spare time, as well as great neighborhoods to live in, places where to spend quality time with your children, safe and professional daycares. And if you are single and ready to mingle, whether you want to explore the downtown beer scene or venture out to the suburbs, you’re sure to find an exciting range of Chicago breweries. With more than 200 breweries in The Windy City and its diverse neighborhoods, we hand-picked the best Chicago breweries to visit.

Rogers Park, the best neighborhood to live in

One can always find something new to discover on every street corner, from the North Side to the South Side, which is why a Chicago neighborhood was also recognized by personal finance publication Money. In a recently released list, Rogers Park was No. 5 on Money’s rankings of the 50 best places to live in the United States. It was the lone Chicago spot to make the cut, earning praise for its diversity, walkability, access to public transit and various places of worship. “Few places are as welcoming to different religions, creeds or ethnicities as Rogers Park, an underdog neighborhood located in the northeast corner of Chicago,” Money wrote.

Naperville, which has been named the best place to be a kid by the U.S. Census Bureau, the best place to raise a family by the education site Niche and one of AARP’s top ten towns for seniors, was Illinois’ other representative, landing at No. 16.

Chicago, the 2nd best city in the world

And earlier this year, Chicago was rated as the second best city in the entire world for the 2nd year in a row, in 2022 behind only Edinburgh, Scotland. Chicago has plenty of entertainment opportunities: festivals, outdoor events, art exhibitions and things you can do for three,  either for the young and carefree, or more family oriented. If you like movies, music, arts and crafts, sports or games, nature and spending time outside, you will always find some new adventure to go on with your loved ones. If you are a local, you probably already discovered the main attractions, but if you are visiting, even for a day, we are here to help you choose the best passtime in Chicago. Now that the season has changed, it is time to dive into the best things to do in Chicago this fall. If you plan to spend some time with family, friends or your significant other, the activities we have hand picked for you to try are really fun and engaging, perfect even for romantic dates. From pumpkin patches and apple picking to admiring fall foliage and taking part in fun activities and events, you will find perfect ideas for both adults and kids to do in Chicago and suburbs.

And if someone you love still has not visited Chicago, you can always find ways to bring some part of the city’s spirit back to them. Our Windy City  is a gift enough in and of itself, offering an innovative art scene, stunning architecture, culture explosion, eclectic shops, and delicious food. And when it comes to gift experiences, Chicago has it all. Whether you want to send a gift to an out-of-town friend or you’re shopping for a loved one in the city, Chicago plays host to some of the most thoughtful and unique gifts, experiences, and souvenirs.
